Seeing is believing . . .

Before making a decision on whom to place your trust, my recommendation is to make an informed choice by viewing a company's work - particularly from the inside of the house where most of the craftsmanship, or lack of it, can be closely inspected. Only then can you make a comparative judgement by trusting your own eyes rather than relying on the google-eyed smoke and mirrors of sales blurb dressed up as tech-spec-speak by salesmen who've never swung a hammer nor screwed a bit of timber in their suit and booted lives.

When company literature or sales persons emphasise technical specifications and 'U-values' - poker-faced and with a serious show of gravitas - that's a dead give-away of double-glazing balderdash baffles brains and, as such, exposes the insidious ploy of overplaying unremarkable factors that are simply stating industry standards.  Attempting to borrow credibility by referring to technical specifications, U-values, FENSA and so on, is a deliberate distraction from what really counts - that is, hands-on craftsmanship and a high-minded approach that is reflected in the meticulous attention to detail demanded to produce a superior double-glazed timber window and an exceptionally superb finish.

Such unrivalled expertise effecting noticeable qualities for several aspects of the finished product is not measured in U-values, it is achieved by the integrity of a team of individuals' work ethics and their highly skilled expertise developed over years of specialization.  After all, unlike aluminium and plastic windows that have a prefinished perfect surface that needs no careful drilling, punching, filling, sanding and repainting to create the beautiful delineation of invisible fixings, timber windows demand intensive hands-on workmanship applied to multiple areas of attention during the hand-milling of thirty component profiles, precisive joinery work and most critically applied to the installation process.  Such artful attention to detail is particularly evident in the otherwise disastrously overlooked finishing skills that determine the painful or pleasurable difference between a shameless shoddy dog's breakfast and a knee-wobbling "Wow!" factor.

This is why I favour inviting serious potential customers to view my work . . . from the inside, so they can see in an instant the visually apparent difference between the typically mediocre, if not, appalling standard of other embarrassingly defective installations, and the absolutely stunning examples of our far superior double-glazed timber window work.  This is what settles the matter, for it is not U-values that count but value for money.  That is why the sustainability of my business relies not on the annual membership fee for the Federation of Master Bodgers and Blarney, but on the happily given recommendations of my genuinely satisfied customers who are delighted to show off their lovely new windows to other potential buyers.  Thus, I'm equally confident to emphasise my trusted motto: "Seeing is believing . . . Quality speaks for itself."

No MEASUREMENTS required for a GUIDE PRICE, as costing is largely determined by quantity. Orders of 4 or 5 windows, for example, are proportionally cheaper than 1 or 2 windows.  Although the side wings of a 3-part bay are smaller than the centre window, the installation of a box sash bay is more complex than 3 separate windows.  Consequently, a bay is equally priced as 3 windows regardless of size differentiation. Similarly, a relatively smaller window awkwardly situated in a bathroom or over a kitchen sink involves greater difficulties than a larger window that is easily accessed in a bedroom or living room. Thus, price is not determined by dimensions alone but by the location of the windows and the size of the order. Having said that, for a substantial order of 7 windows or more, a couple of smaller windows in the bathroom and toilet would be priced at cost in order to sweeten the deal and keep the overall price within the realms of affordability.

Scaffolding & Stonework: Timber windows are installed from inside the room and, in most cases, no scaffolding is required unless the work includes exterior refurbishment and painting of the stonework. Stunning examples of our window installations with additional finish painting and restoration of the exterior stonework can be viewed from the Main Menu above.
